TBD Shepherds Mesa Estates | Choteau
The land of the dinosaurs! This 20 acre property has so many stories to tell! Just north of this parcel is hundreds of acres of state land which includes Egg Mountain, the famous site in which Jack Horner and his team first discovered dinosaur eggs in the late 70's. Many people believe that Jurassic Park was inspired by Jack and his work here. In 1999 a fossil specimen of a new species of duck-billed dinosaur was found on the land that adjoins this parcel to the west. This new dinosaur, Acristavus Gagslarsoni, was named after the original landowner Russell Ellsworth "Gags" Larson and now can be found in the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman. This parcel was also the site of multiple Marlboro Man ads and it is easy to understand why. The views are simply staggering - some of the most beautiful I have ever seen of the Front. The last of the Marlboro ads were shot here in 2015 which is when they constructed the corral that still exists on the property. Listed by Jen Barnett. MTR 30033008
Directions to property: Drive South on Highway 287 from Choteau toward Augusta. Approximately 13-14 miles SW of Choteau, past Egg Mountain at the top of the bluff an just past mile marker 56, there is a gravel pit on the west side of the road. Look for my sign with the arrow and turn there. Continue straight on the dirt road/path for approximately 1-1.25 mile. The second sign is on the edge of the parcel next to the gate for this property. You will see the old corrals.
